KATHMANDU: Rebecca Slick Hunter, Director of the international satellite internet provider Starlink, met with Minister for Information and Communication Dr. Bikram Timilsina at Singha Durbar today to discuss launching services in Nepal.
During the meeting, Hunter explained that policy and legal complexities have delayed their permit, emphasizing that Starlink requires 100% ownership of the license to proceed, though they are currently exploring commercial partnerships with local service providers.
Minister Timilsina responded by assuring the delegation that there are no obstacles to Starlink operating in Nepal, provided they navigate the legal process in accordance with the country’s existing telecommunications policies.
