KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki has emphasized the indispensability of international police cooperation to strengthen global peace, security, and the rule of law.

Addressing the ongoing United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS) in the United States, Karki pointed out that with the changing global security landscape, challenges arising from cybercrime, human trafficking, transnational organized crime, terrorism, financial crimes, and the misuse of digital technology cannot be solved by the efforts of a single nation alone.

He highlighted the need to further strengthen international cooperation through information sharing, capacity building, joint training, and the effective utilization of technology.

IGP Karki spoke about the role the Nepal Police has played in UN peace missions for decades with professionalism, impartiality, and discipline, assuring that Nepal’s commitment to establishing world peace remains unwavering.

Furthermore, he shared that Nepal Police is dedicated to developing a modern police service centered on increasing the participation of women police officers, community-police partnerships, respect for human rights, and the rule of law.

Emphasizing that trust, coordination, and partnership among member states must be further strengthened to effectively resolve shared challenges of peace and security, Karki called on all nations to move forward united to build a safe, just, and peaceful world.

According to the Secretariat of the Inspector General of Police, the address presented on behalf of the Nepal Police effectively highlighted Nepal’s security perspective, professional capability, and firm commitment to world peace on the international stage.
