KATHMANDU: Spain secured a commanding victory over Saudi Arabia in their Group H match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In the match recently concluded at the Atlanta Stadium, Spain defeated Saudi Arabia with a convincing 4-0 scoreline.
Spain put on a dominant display, scoring three goals in the first half and receiving an own goal in the second half. The breakthrough came early in the 10th minute when Lamine Yamal scored to give Spain an early lead.
Mikel Oyarzabal then doubled the lead in the 21st minute, and just three minutes later, he found the back of the net again to triple Spain’s advantage.
In the 49th minute of the match, Saudi Arabia’s Hassan Al-Tambakti accidentally scored an own goal, extending Spain’s lead to 4-0. Neither side managed to score for the remainder of the game.
With this crucial win, Spain now tops Group H with 4 points from two matches, significantly strengthening their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage. Meanwhile, the other teams in the group—Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Cape Verde—are tied with 1 point each.
