KATHMANDU: ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 action continues today as Nepal national cricket team take on Scotland national cricket team at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground.
Scotland won the toss and elected to field first in the match, which began at 9:30 AM.
Nepal have retained the same playing XI for today’s important encounter. The lineup includes Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Rohit Paudel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Ishan Pandey, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi.
So far, three matches have been completed in the ongoing tri-series involving Nepal, the United States, and Scotland. Scotland have won both of their matches, defeating Nepal by two runs under the Duckworth–Lewis method in the opening game and later beating the United States by the same margin.
In the third match of the series, Nepal defeated the United States by nine wickets last Saturday.
Today’s game is crucial for Nepal as the team aims to keep alive its hopes of qualifying for the Cricket World Cup Global Qualifier.
Nepal currently sit seventh in the League 2 standings with 20 points from 26 matches, having registered nine wins, 15 losses, and two no-results. To qualify for the Global Qualifier, Nepal must win all of their remaining 10 matches. The team also needs to finish within the top six to retain ODI status.
Meanwhile, Scotland lead the standings with 38 points from 30 matches, recording 16 wins, eight losses, and six no-results.
