POKHARA: Rohit Kumar, a 28-year-old tourist from Bihar, India, passed away on Friday after drowning while swimming in Pokhara’s Phewa Lake.
According to the District Police Office, Kaski, Rohit had visited the Tal Barahi Temple along with four of his friends. After docking their boat at the temple, he and another friend began swimming in the lake, during which Rohit sank into the water.
As soon as information about the incident was received, a disaster management team led by Armed Police Force Assistant Sub Inspector Devendra KC, deployed from the Phewa Watch and Rescue Tower, immediately initiated a search operation.
According to the police, Rohit was rescued in an unconscious state from a depth of about 10 feet around 5:10 PM.
Although he was immediately rushed to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences for treatment, doctors declared him dead.
Birendra Kumar Paswan, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kaski, informed that further investigation into the incident is underway.
