KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are actively covering Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, alongside parts of Gandaki and eastern Lumbini, while western and local winds affect the rest of Nepal.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division reports that the hilly, mountainous, and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki are experiencing generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain, which is expected to trigger further rainfall and high-altitude snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Conversely, the Terai plains of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim will maintain mostly clear skies.
This clear weather is driving up temperatures, prompting official heatwave warnings for the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.
Members of the public in affected areas are urged to exercise caution against both severe lightning and extreme heat, and to remain updated on shifting weather alerts.
