KATHMANDU: Nepal is experiencing contrasting weather extremes today due to the combined influence of western winds, local winds, and an eastern low-pressure system.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, cloudy skies are prevailing over the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms already impacting parts of Bagmati and Gandaki.

As the day progresses into tonight, these stormy conditions are expected to spread across the hills, mountains, and plains of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki, alongside isolated showers in Lumbini and Karnali.

Meanwhile, western Nepal faces severe heat today, with heatwave warnings issued for the plains and hills of Sudurpashchim province, and scorching, hot weather forecasted for Lumbini province.
