KATHMANDU: A western low-pressure system, local winds, and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near eastern Nepal are currently influencing the country’s weather, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
At present, the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, are generally cloudy, while the remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division said light to moderate rainfall is occurring in a few places of Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces.
Isolated areas of Madhes, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are also witnessing light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
This afternoon, hilly and mountainous areas are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the Terai region will see partial cloud cover.
Some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and a few places in the hills and mountains of other provinces, may experience moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning.
There is also a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning in one or two places of the Terai region.
Tonight, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are likely to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see partial cloud cover.
The division has also forecast moderate rainfall or snowfall with thunder and lightning in a few places of the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
