Cabinet decisions made public

KATHMANDU: The decisions of the meetings of the Council of Ministers held on November 25 and November 29 were made public on Sunday.

Making the cabinet decisions public, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that approval has been given to a framework agreement on fiscal mobilization under the public investment financing of the Government of Finland.

Likewise, Gurung said that the cabinet meeting has decided to allow the use of the national forest area for different projects and power transmission line development.

The meeting also approved the visit of Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Dhanraj Acharya, to South Korea for a study visit on waste management.

The meeting has approved 22 million US dollars in grants and 10 million US dollars in loan assistance to be received from the Asian Development Bank for Climate Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods Project.

Spokesperson Gurung said that the meeting decided to accept 110 million US dollars subsidized loans and 15 million US dollars in grants to be received by the Nepal government from the Asian Development Bank for the implementation of the Mechanized Irrigation Innovation Project.

Likewise, India visit of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari was approved for his participation at 29th Partnership Summit to be held in New Delhi.

Similarly, the government has determined Rs 585 per quintal as the minimum support price for sugarcane including the cost of production, transportation cost and profits.

The cabinet has approved the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Government of Nepal and International Water Management Institute. Likewise, the cabinet meeting has approved another MoU to be signed between the Government of Nepal and The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry and the Centre for International Forestry Research.

Spokesperson Gurung shared that the cabinet meeting also endorsed the government delegation to visit China during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit from December 2-5.

The government has decided to give permission to table the bill designed to amend and integrate laws related to Customs and Bill designed to amend and integrate laws related to Electricity, 2080 in the Parliament.

A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday took the decision to appoint members of House of Representatives—Rajendra Kumar KC and Madhav Sapkota as the member of Privatization Committee in accordance with Privatization Act, 2050, said Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

The government also decided to approve National Archive Management related to Crime and Police Character Certificate Distribution Guidelines, 2080 as well as to give permission to sign agreement between Nepal and the Republic of Philippines for visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders.

It has given permission to use national forest area located at Bigu rural municipality of Dolakha district for the construction of Sangu Khola Hydropower Project and to use land of Gaurishankar Conservation area for the construction of different infrastructure development of Sangu Khola 1 Hydropower Project.

Similarly, a decision was taken to give permission to use national forest area to construct infrastructures for quarry sites for the disposal of waste produced in course of construction of Arun III Hydropower Project.

The government has promoted Dinesh Kumar Ghimire to the vacant position of gazetted special class under administration service and Dr Sanat Kumar Sharma to the post of Executive Director of BP Koirala Memorial Planetarium and Observatory and Science Museum Development Committee.

Likewise, the cabinet extended the term of Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Taskforce, 2080, by one month to be effective from August 11. It also gave permission to Attorney General Dr Dinmani Pokharel to the 28th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors.

The cabinet meeting has given permission to Chief of District Coordination Committees of Sunsari, Rajan Mehata, Ashok Kumar Ghimire of Rasuwa, Deepak Kumar Gautam of Kavrepalanchowk, Lumbini Gautam of Rukum (West) and San Bahadur Rai of Khotang to attend Sustainable Development Conference, 2023, scheduled to be held in New York, USA.

The government has also provided permission to a team led by Urban Development Ministry, Sita Gurung, to participate in infrastructure investment related programme to be held in Netherlands as well as Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet to participate in ‘Global Congress in Population, Health and Development’ conference scheduled in Egypt.

The cabinet decided to appoint Kailash Kumar Paneru of Dadeldhura to the vacant post of General Manager of Nepal Aushadhi Limited.
