KATHMANDU: The long-awaited installation of streetlights has officially commenced along the highly congested Koteshwor–Kalanki section of the Kathmandu Ring Road.
Years after the completion of the eight-lane road expansion, the lack of adequate lighting had left drivers and pedestrians facing high accident risks and severe night-time security challenges.
Locals have long urged authorities to establish a modern and safe transit corridor.
With this initiative underway, the project is expected to significantly reduce nocturnal road accidents, improve traffic management, boost public safety, and enhance the capital city’s aesthetic appeal at night.
