Over 2,500 traffic violators penalized in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: In the past 24 hours, 2,535 drivers have been penalized for violating traffic rules.

This has generated Rs 1,977,000 in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 101 individuals for driving under the influence (DUI), 129 for operating unauthorized ‘ride-sharing’ services against regulations, 106 for traffic light violations, and 138 for speeding.

Similarly, 81 drivers were penalized for lane discipline violations, 141 for blowing horns in restricted zones, 117 for parking vehicles on sidewalks, 113 for driving on one-way streets, and 1,609 others for failing to comply with various other traffic rules.
