SURKHET: The Karnali Highway will be closed for eight hours daily for 15 days due to maintenance work on the Sisne–Sai section in Dailekh district.

According to a notice from the Dailekh District Administration Office, the road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day to facilitate repairs.

The contract for the maintenance work has already been awarded, but construction-related issues led to the need for this temporary closure.

Traffic heading towards Kalikot, Jumla, Mugu, and Humla in Karnali Province, as well as Achham and Bajura in Sudurpaschim Province, will be diverted from Ramaghat.

Vehicles will need to take a detour through Sattala on the Mid-Hill Highway to reach Sai. The detour will extend the travel distance from the original 18 kilometers of the Ramaghat–Sai stretch to about 32 kilometers.

A new contract was issued after the 12-kilometer Sisne–Sai section became severely damaged.
