KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, announced that the stalled parliamentary session will resume today at 2 PM. His remarks came after observing a photo exhibition titled “Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity”, organized by the national news agency RSS to mark Republic Day.
“The House shouldn’t have been obstructed in the first place, but it happened. The session will resume at 2 PM today,” said Speaker Ghimire. He added that although House meetings are usually scheduled for 11 AM or 1 PM, today’s session was delayed to 2 PM in hopes of normal proceedings.
Ghimire emphasized that the current obstruction came at a time when crucial budget discussions were pending. He underscored the need for orderly and procedural debate, saying, “The damage has already been done. Now we must move ahead accordingly and conclude budget discussions within the stipulated time frame.”
He also stated that the session’s agenda would be structured to ensure timely completion of budget debates as per parliamentary procedure.
