KATHMANDU: The upcoming feature film ‘Ekka Missi Badshah’ was formally announced in Kathmandu on Saturday, marking the directorial debut of UK-based filmmaker Sanjay Rai.

Returning to cinema after a two-year hiatus, actress Samragyee RL Shah will star in the lead role of ‘Ash’—a bold, adventurous character that convinced her to return to the screen.

Centered around the tagline “Kohi Jitchhan, Kohi Harchhan, Kohi Badshah Banchhan” (Some win, some lose, some become kings), the film tells a youth-focused story about modern relationships, social media culture, and two childhood friends navigating personal growth alongside family and societal expectations.

The production team has launched open auditions to cast two male lead roles, ‘Krish’ and ‘Arjun,’ with principal photography scheduled to begin in February 2027.
