MALAYSIA: A bus carrying university students crashed into a minivan near Gerik on Malaysia’s East-West Highway, killing at least 15 people, officials said.
Thirteen died at the scene, two later in hospital. The victims included 14 students from Sultan Idris Education University and a bus attendant.
The bus reportedly lost control and hit the minivan from behind. Rescuers used hydraulic cutters to free trapped passengers. Thirty-three others were injured, seven critically.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed deep sorrow and urged caution on Malaysia’s dangerous roads, where accidents are frequent.
