KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said that Nepal and Thailand share many cultural similarities.
Inaugurating the “Thai Flavours in the Himalayas” trade fair held in Kathmandu today, she stated that the two countries have a long-standing historical relationship and commonalities in many areas, including culture.
Minister Dr. Rana highlighted shared values such as hospitality towards guests, respect for multi-religious and multicultural traditions, tolerance, and tourism-driven prosperity.
She emphasized that tourism could become a key area of mutual prosperity and collaboration between the two countries.
Stressing Nepal’s immense potential in tourism, she urged Thai investors to invest in Nepal’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
Noting that Nepal is progressing in entrepreneurship and that products like handicrafts are gaining attention in the global market, she invited Thai industrialists and businesspersons to invest in Nepal.
She also pointed out that both Nepal and Thailand have remained independent and sovereign nations, never colonized by any foreign power.
Referring to the recent visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Thailand, Minister Rana mentioned that several agreements and understandings were reached during the trip between both public and private sectors.
She expressed that the visit has further strengthened bilateral ties and emphasized the need to continue such high-level visits in the future.
The trade fair was jointly organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket.
