PM Oli departs for Turkmenistan to attend UN conference of LLDCs

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli left for Turkmenistan at midnight on Sunday to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

He is leading the Nepali delegation to the conference being held in Avaza, Turkmenistan.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Oli is attending the conference from August 5 to 8 at the formal invitation of Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

As the Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address the conference.

On the sidelines, he will hold meetings with heads of delegations from various countries and senior officials of the United Nations and other international organizations.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on this visit are his spouse Radhika Shakya, Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Member of Parliament Surya Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, and senior government officials.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to return to Nepal on August 8.

Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Secretary and other officials were present at Tribhuvan International Airport to see him off.
