KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre)’s ongoing Standing Committee meeting is set to conclude today (Monday) after four days of internal deliberations at the party’s central office in Paris Danda.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will respond to concerns and feedback raised by committee members before formally ending the session.

Since the meeting began on Friday, a majority of Standing Committee members have already expressed their views on Prachanda’s political document.

Only Senior Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung are left to present their remarks, which they are scheduled to deliver in this final session.

Following their statements, Chairman Prachanda will answer the questions raised during the discussions, particularly regarding his policy document, as confirmed by Vice Chairman Agni Prasad Sapkota.

The party has indicated that preparations are in place to bring the meeting to a close today itself. Throughout the sessions, leaders like Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma and Secretary Ram Karki raised queries on certain aspects of Prachanda’s proposals.

Sharma, who advocated for a special general convention, faced suggestions from fellow committee members to engage in self-criticism. Despite these debates, the majority of the members have endorsed the Chairman’s document.

The Standing Committee meeting, which resumed amid crucial organizational and political issues within the party, is seen as an important platform for internal clarity ahead of future political strategies.

Today’s concluding session is expected to finalize the Maoist Centre’s immediate course of action.
