KALIKOT: A jeep accident in Kalikot has left eight people injured, including a doctor working at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Jumla.
The jeep, en route from Surkhet to Jumla, veered off the road and plunged approximately 12 meters near Hotel Hillside in Khadachakra-1, Kalikot district headquarters Manma, on Monday afternoon.
According to DSP Tek Bahadur Rawat, Chief of Kalikot District Police Office, the accident occurred on the Surkhet-Jumla section of the Karnali Highway.
Among the injured is Dr. Ruby Thapa, a resident of Pokhara Metropolitan City-29, Kaski, who sustained injuries to her right ribs. She has been airlifted to Nepalgunj for further treatment.
The injured also include 25-year-old driver Dharma Prasad Adhikari of Birendranagar-9, Surkhet; 30-year-old Sunil Gyawali of Satyawati Rural Municipality-5, Gulmi; 22-year-old Anjana Dhami of Naugad Rural Municipality-2, Darchula; and 26-year-old Chhotyang Tamang of Karmarong Rural Municipality-2, Mugu.
Additionally, 35-year-old Devendra Adhikari of Kohalpur Municipality-8, Banke; 45-year-old Kalpana Nepal Acharya of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-1, Palpa; and 30-year-old Hikmat Jirel of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-1, Dolakha, were injured.
Dr. Jiban Pandey of District Hospital Kalikot informed that other injured passengers are receiving treatment at Manma District Hospital.
