RAJBIRAJ: A clash broke out between police and locals at Kamalpur, Rajgadh Rural Municipality-2, Saptari, on Tuesday night.

The situation turned tense after locals started pelting stones at police personnel who had arrived following a tip-off about ongoing smuggling activities around midnight.

During the confrontation, police fired shots, resulting in the death of a local resident, approximately 36-year-old Lalu Yadav.

Yadav, who was injured by a bullet, was taken to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj for treatment but succumbed to his injuries during medical care.
