KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has urged King Abdullah II of Jordan to take necessary steps for the release of Bipin Joshi of Mahendranagar, who has been held hostage by Hamas.

On Tuesday, President Paudel sent a letter to the Jordanian King, requesting his assistance in identifying Joshi’s condition, ensuring his safe release, and facilitating his return to Nepal.

In the letter, he mentioned that the people of Nepal would highly appreciate and welcome all humanitarian and diplomatic measures taken by Jordan in this regard.

Earlier on Sunday, Joshi’s mother and sister had met President Paudel at the presidential residence, Sheetal Niwas, and appealed for his intervention.

On the occasion, President Paudel assured them that he would make further efforts for Joshi’s release.
