KATHMANDU: On Wednesday, the Nepali share market rose sharply, with the NEPSE index gaining 53.01 points to reach 2,819.
The market initially fell to 2,768 points by mid-morning but recovered steadily, supported by increased trading volume, which rose from Rs 4.18 billion to Rs 7.68 billion.
Out of all listed companies, 232 gained while 19 declined.
Development Banks led sectoral gains with 3.40%, followed by Manufacturing & Processing 2.69%, Life Insurance 2.21%, and others.
Top company performers included Bikash Hydropower (+10%), Samata Domestic Microfinance (+9.36%), and Green Ventures (+8.08%). Nepal Republic Media (-4.29%) saw the biggest decline.
High turnover was recorded in Himalayan Reinsurance, Nepal Reinsurance, Green Ventures, Himalayan Distillery, and Nepal Republic Media.
