KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to field the candidacy of Ramhari Khatiwada for the post of Chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, following his resignation from the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

The vacancy arose after Nepali Congress lawmaker Ishwari Neupane stepped down as chair of the State Affairs Committee on August 26.

Khatiwada is set to contest for the position in the joint committee. The election for the chairperson will be held on Friday, with nominations scheduled for Thursday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM.
