KATHMANDU: Outgoing Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has claimed that conspirators were behind the violence during last week’s Gen Z movement.
Speaking publicly for the first time on social media since the protests, Oli offered condolences to the deceased and wished for the recovery of the injured.
He also clarified that the government had not issued any order to police to deliberately open fire on demonstrators.
Oli said, “During the Gen Z protest, which was expected to be peaceful as claimed by the organizers, there was infiltration. Conspirators who infiltrated the protest caused violence, and we lost the lives of our youths.
The government did not instruct police to shoot at protesters. The firing was done with automatic weapons not possessed by the police, and this incident must be investigated.”
“Once again, I express deep sorrow, extend condolences to the departed youths, and wish speedy recovery for the injured,” he added.
