Monsoon weakens gradually across Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reports that the monsoon is gradually weakening.

However, western winds continue to affect many areas in the western regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces, as well as some western parts of Gandaki Province.

According to the DHM’s weather bulletin, hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces will generally remain cloudy, while the rest of the Terai will experience partly cloudy skies.

The bulletin also mentions a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the hilly and Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, with isolated showers in other hilly areas and one or two Terai locations.

Tonight, most hilly regions including Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces will remain generally cloudy, with the Terai partly cloudy.

There is also a chance of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in some hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpashchim, and Koshi provinces, and isolated rainfall in one or two Terai locations, the DHM added.
