KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has called for the retirement of the top leaders of Nepal’s three major political parties, stressing the need to open a new chapter of political dialogue and leadership transition.
In a video message shared on social media on Sunday, Thapa said, “Let’s bid farewell to the three top leaders of the three major parties and begin a new environment of dialogue.”
He urged members of the CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Centre) to ask their senior leaders to step down as well.
“I also want to tell friends in the UML and Maoist Centre — we must clearly tell our three leaders, ‘No more,’” Thapa said.
He further noted that simply changing leadership may not solve all problems but added that he, too, is ready to step aside if he becomes unfit for leadership in the future.
