KATHMANDU: Khagendra Sunar from Dailekh, who has been recommended as the Minister for Labour and Employment in Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s cabinet, has been publicly linked to multiple controversies.
It has been revealed that a warrant for his arrest was issued by the District Court of Surkhet.
The arrest warrant was issued against him for allegedly vandalizing a health institution and physically assaulting healthcare workers.
Furthermore, after the murder of Nabaraj BK in Rukum, Sunar—known for his involvement in Dalit rights campaigns—was dissatisfied with the court’s verdict in the case.
He allegedly vandalized the court gate and posted defamatory content on social media attacking the character of legal professionals.
Following this, a defamation case was filed against Sunar in the Supreme Court, is currently under consideration.
Given his involvement in multiple controversies and his status as a fugitive in some cases, Prime Minister Karki is reportedly discussing whether or not to formally appoint Sunar as a minister.
