KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested former CPN (UML) lawmaker Devi Prasad Bhattachan on charges of large-scale fraud.

According to the CIB, Bhattachan was taken into custody from Lalitpur on Tuesday.

Despite earlier complaints filed against him, he had not been arrested until now.

The complaint against him was lodged by Kusum Lama, Chairperson of Prabhu Management.

Bhattachan had been appointed as a proportional representation Member of Parliament by the CPN (UML) in the 2022 general elections.
