KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army commemorated United Nations (UN) Day by organizing a special program at the Birendra Peace Operations Training Center in Panchkhal.

The event was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel, the Defence Secretary, heads of all security agencies, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, military attachés from friendly countries, media personnel, and other senior army officers.

Nepali Army teams have been participating in UN peacekeeping missions since 1974.

Nepal Police units joined the missions in 1992, and Armed Police Force (APF) teams have been deployed since 2002.
