KATHMANDU: Under the widespread influence of monsoon winds and a low-pressure line positioned north of its normal track, six provinces in Nepal are currently experiencing moderate rainfall.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the country will remain generally cloudy through Monday and Tuesday, with high risks of heavy to very heavy downpours.

On Sunday night, heavy precipitation is expected in the hilly and plains (Terai) regions of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, alongside localized heavy rain across the mountainous, hilly, and Terai zones of Bagmati and Madhesh provinces.

The weather alert extends into Monday and Tuesday, predicting sustained heavy rainfall across the hilly and Terai terrains of Koshi and Sudurpashchim, as well as the hilly belts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, prompting warnings for potential flash floods and landslides.
