SINDULI: Two people died and four others were injured in a road accident today at Laxmipur, Dudhauli municipality-4, along the Madan Bhandari Highway. The collision involved three vehicles: one truck and two motorcycles.
The deceased have been identified as Ram Kumar Kumar, 34, of Tadi, Dudhauli municipality-11, and Phulbabu Dhami, 25, of Dudhauli municipality. Both succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at Dudhauli Municipal Hospital, police said.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Sindhuli, the truck ( registration number plate Province 1-02-002 Kha 411) traveling from Bhiman to Dudhauli collided with two motorcycles (Province 2-01-001 Pa 2142) and (Madhesh Province 02-006 Pa 5841), resulting in casualties and injuries.
The injured are Biplav Dhami, 26; Buddhi Tharu, 27; Sunil Majhi, 25; and Kushe Dhami, 32, all from Dudhauli-3. Three of them are reported to be in critical condition, according to DPO Chief and Superintendent of Police Laldhwoj Subedi. One of the motorcycles caught fire during the accident and was completely destroyed.
Police have arrested the truck driver, Sher Bahadur Bista, 25, of Chhathar Jorpati rural municipality-6, Dhankuta, for further investigation. The authorities said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
