KATHMANDU: China’s Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, today paid a courtesy call on Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Madan Prasad Pariyar.
During the meeting, Minister Pariyar assured that the long-standing friendship between Nepal and China would further strengthen during Ambassador Chen’s tenure. On behalf of the government, he also reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to deepening mutual trust and enhancing cooperation with China.
Echoing the significance of China’s technical, institutional, and trade support for Nepal, the Minister concluded that such collaboration is crucial for Nepal to develop advanced, sustainable, and climate-friendly agricultural systems, boost production, and expand bilateral trade.
He underlined the need for continued dialogue and partnership to effectively implement various protocols, memoranda of understanding, and cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.
The Minister further said that Nepal considers agricultural cooperation with China will directly benefit farmers, support the rural economy, and contribute to overall national development.
Ambassador Chen expressed China’s positive views on potential collaboration in areas such as agriculture, capacity building, production of compound fertilizers, export of disease-free buffalo meat, and the establishment of an agricultural demonstration park.
Both sides agreed on the importance of technical cooperation, investment, and knowledge exchange to strengthen Nepal’s agricultural sector and promote sustainable development, it is said.
