KATHMANDU: The 11th National Congress of the CPN (UML), which concluded formally on Thursday, has passed a 24-point political proposal on contemporary issues.
The proposal was presented by Coordinator of the Proposal Writing Committee, Pradeep Gyawali, in the concluding session of the National Congress. The document has incorporated the issues including the demand of reinstating the House of Representatives (HoR) so as to bring the country back on a constitutional track.
The National Congress had the inauguration at Sallaghari of Bhaktapur on December 13. In the concluding session, newly elected Chairperson KP Sharma Oli shared that the National Congress had dispelled the false narrative that political parties with legacy were losing relevance, announcing that they would move ahead in the path to development, god governance, prosperity and restoration of HoR.
The UML was always ready to hold a meaningful discussion with new generations for country’s development and prosperity and to move ahead for collaboration, according to the party.
Hinting at Gen Z movement, the party said it has moved ahead by making various decisions to increase youth participation in party’s organisational structures.
The National Congress has further emphasized that foreign affairs should be conducted on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual cooperation, understanding and justice.
Advancing balanced relations with friendly countries, including the neighbours by keeping intact the national interest is significant, the UML said, adding that the non-alignment, UN charter and the world peace bear equal value.
