MUSTANG: A leopard killed 17 sheep belonging to Santosh Pariyar of Marpha, Gharpojhong Rural Municipality–2 in the district on Friday morning.

The leopard entered the sheep enclosure in the high land pasture and preyed 17 sheep, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.

The family has suffered an estimated loss of around Rs 500,000 from the wild attack.

Earlier, in December, the family had incurred a loss of approximately Rs 600,000 after a snow leopard killed 19 of their mountain goats. The family currently rears around 200 sheep. The remaining cattle have been shifted to a safer place.
