Fear-free election is primary duty of govt: Foreign Minister Sharma

MAHOTTARI: Minister for Foreign Affairs Balananda Sharma has emphasized that the government’s foremost responsibility is to ensure the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election, scheduled for March 5, is conducted properly.

Following an inspection of polling stations along the Indo-Nepal border in Mahottari today, Minister Sharma conveyed to district security officials and media representatives in Jaleshwar the government’s dedication to facilitating a fear-free electoral process.

“As the nation approaches an election, it is crucial that this election is held to ensure national stability and uphold democracy,” Minister Sharma remarked. “To achieve this, security agencies must collaborate effectively and enhance security measures.”

Previously, Minister Sharma, accompanied by the Chief District Officer and leaders of district security agencies, assessed the Malibara and Naini polling stations within Jaleshwar Municipality, which are adjacent to the Indian border.

A total of 536 polling centers have been established across 258 polling sites throughout all four regions of Mahottari for the forthcoming House of Representatives election. Of these, 163 polling sites.
