Japan’s National Day celebrated in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Japanese ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru hosted a National Day reception at his official residence in Tahachal on Tuesday to mark the 66th birthday of the Emperor of Japan.

The event was attended by approximately 380 guests, including Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav as the Chief Guest, government ministers, former prime ministers and ministers, ambassadors, heads of international organizations, and prominent members of Nepal’s diplomatic community.

In his address, Ambassador Maeda highlighted the recent visit of President Ramchandra Paudel to Japan from February 1 to 5, which commemorated the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said the visit “reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Nepal and Japan and paved the way for deeper collaboration in the coming years.”

The ambassador emphasized Japan’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with Nepal, stating, “We look forward to deepening our friendship, expanding cooperation, and working toward shared aspirations for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.”

The program featured formal greetings, diplomatic interactions, and speeches, reflecting Japan’s ongoing engagement with Nepal across economic, cultural, and humanitarian sectors.
