MUMBAI: Nepal are playing against Italy in their second ICC T20 World Cup match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium at 3:15 pm local time. Italy won the toss and chose to field. Nepal made one change, bringing in Lalit Rajbanshi for Sher Malla.
Both teams lost their opening games, making this a must-win contest to stay in contention for the Super 8. Another defeat could all but end their campaign.
Nepal, who played a high-scoring match against England at the same venue, is banking on openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh, skipper Rohit Paudel, and all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee. Sandeep Lamichhane leads the bowling attack.
Italy, playing their first World Cup, are without injured captain Wayne Madsen. Leadership responsibilities fall on JJ Smuts and Grant Stewart.
Nepal have previously beaten Italy in 50-over matches, but this is their first T20 meeting. Nepal are seeking their first World Cup win since 2014.
