Ambassador Maeda meets JDS Alumni, marks 70 years of Japan–Nepal ties

KATHMANDU: Ambassador Maeda attended the JDS Social Program on February 16, where he met alumni who studied in Japan under the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship, widely known as JDS.

The event was attended by Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Sumanraj Aryal, President of the JDS Alumni Association Nepal Gokarna Mani Duwadee, joint secretaries, representatives of Japan-related associations, professors from Japanese universities, and numerous alumni.

Speaking at the program, Chief Secretary Aryal expressed appreciation for the Government of Japan’s continued support in human resource development. JDS alumni reaffirmed their commitment to applying the knowledge and experience gained in Japan to Nepal’s development and to further strengthening bilateral ties.

Ambassador Maeda noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Nepal. He expressed hope that JDS alumni and their association would actively organize and participate in events to deepen friendship and cooperation between the two countries, in coordination with other Japan-related alumni groups in Nepal.
