RAJBIRAJ: A seven-year-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday evening has been safely rescued, police said.
According to Saptari’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dambar Bahadur Puri, the rescue was possible on Friday. The girl was from Bisanpur of Khadka municipality-8 in the district.
Police have arrested Imtiyaz Ahamad from Lalpatti Tole of Khadka municipality-9 for demanding a ransom for the girl’s release following her kidnap. He was apprehended from Rupani rural municipality-1.
The alleged accused called the daughter’s father, demanding a ransom of Rs 10 million and five kg of gold. The girl had gone missing from her home on Tuesday evening and the police was reported about it by her family.
Police have been granted seven days from the Saptari District Court, Rajbiraj to carry out further investigation into the case relating to kidnapping and hostage-taking as well as human trafficking and transport.
