NEPSE rises slightly by 5.01 points, daily turnover exceeds Rs 15 billion

KATHMANDU: On the second trading day of the week, today (Monday), the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 5.01 points. The share market, which had been declining throughout the day, recovered by the time of closing to end with a marginal gain.

Compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE rose by 0.17% to settle at 2936.56 points. However, the Sensitive Index decreased by 0.28 points today, closing at 505.02 points. On a percentage basis, this is 0.05% lower than the previous day. The Float Index increased by 0.13%, while the Sensitive Float Index also rose by 0.01%.

In the stock market on Monday, 38,073,945 unit shares of 342 companies were traded 156,381 times. Accordingly, the turnover on Monday amounted to Rs 15.786 billion. Yesterday (Sunday), the turnover was Rs 23.597 billion.

The share prices of 102 companies increased today. While the share prices of 154 companies declined, the share prices of eight companies remained stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on the NEPSE on Sunday, the indices of seven groups increased, while the sub-indices of six groups declined.

Accordingly, the index of the Commercial Bank group fell by 0.27% and the Development Bank group by 0.50%, while the Finance group index rose by 0.20%. Similarly, while Hotels and Tourism decreased by 0.86%, the sub-indices of Hydropower rose by 0.96% and the Investment group by 0.72%.

Furthermore, while the life insurance group index decreased by 0.48%, the indices for manufacturing and processing rose by 1.53%, microfinance by 0.43%, and the mutual fund group by 0.88%.

The Non-Life Insurance group index decreased by 0.04%, while the Others group index increased by 0.01%. The trading group index, however, decreased by 0.59%.

On the NEPSE this Sunday, four companies hit the positive circuit breaker. Those hitting the positive circuit include Salpa Bikas Bank, Reliance Spinning Mills, Solu Hydropower Limited, and Bhujung Hydropower Limited. In other words, investors in these four companies earned a 10% return.

On the other hand, investors of Sunrise First Mutual Fund suffered a loss of 3.71%.

In terms of turnover amount, Kumari Bank had the highest trading volume today at Rs 672.3 million. Yesterday (Sunday), Kumari’s turnover was Rs 859.61 million.

Similarly, based on the number of shares traded, Kumari Bank also topped the list with 2,768,109 units of shares bought and sold. Kumari also had the highest number of shares traded yesterday (Sunday), with 3,546,853 units. Its final trading price on Monday remained at Rs 246 per share.
