KATHMANDU: Legal action has been taken against 2,431 business firms in Gandaki Province for tampering with and using illegal weight and measuring instruments.
Manoj Pokharel, Head of the Quality and Standards Office in Pokhara, informed that legal action will be taken according to the Measurement Act, 2025, and the Consumer Protection Act, 2018 if measuring instruments are used irregularly and illegally.
The operators of commercial firms in Kaski, Gorkha, Lamjung, Syangja, Tanahun, Manang, Mustang, Parbat, Myagdi, and Baglung districts in Gandaki Province were taken action against according to the said Act.
Similarly, the office has renewed permits for 1,078 new businesses and 28 old commercial firms to use measuring instruments.
The office has collected Rs 7 million 852 thousand 967 in revenue under various headings in the fiscal year 2025/026.
