KATHMANDU: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives have taken the oath of office and secrecy. They were sworn in inside a temporary hall at the under-construction Parliament Building inside Singha Durbar this afternoon.

Senior-most MP Arjun Narasingh KC of the Nepali Congress administered the oath of office and secrecy to them.

The Parliament Secretariat said a total of 63 MPs took the oath in their mother tongue.

Many of the new MPs had reached Singha Durbar for the oath-taking ceremony, dressed in their traditional attires.

Earlier, the Federal Parliament Secretariat had requested all MPs to arrive two hours before the scheduled time, bringing their certificates of election received from the Election Commission, a copy of their Nepali citizenship, and two copies of a recently taken passport-size photograph.
