YouTuber arrested for abusive content targeting PM Shah

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a YouTuber on charges of broadcasting abusive and defamatory content against Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen).

According to authorities, Roshan Pokharel, originally from Phalelung Rural Municipality-7 and currently residing in Phidim, was taken into custody after posting videos on his YouTube channel in which he allegedly used offensive language against the Prime Minister.

Police from the District Police Office, Panchthar, confirmed that he has been detained and is currently under investigation.

In one of the videos uploaded before Balen Shah assumed office, Pokharel criticized him, stating that he is “not a god.” He also reportedly claimed that all traditional leaders are corrupt and accused Shah of supporting Rabi Lamichhane in his political ambitions.
