KATHMANDU: On the second trading day of the week, Tuesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its decline by dropping double digits. Today, NEPSE fell by 17.91 points to settle at 2,807.31 points. This is 0.63 percent lower than the previous trading day.
The Sensitive Index also decreased by 3.07 points today, closing at 470.63 points. In percentage terms, this is a 0.65 percent drop compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index declined by 0.58 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index dropped by 0.63 percent.
In the share market on Tuesday, at least 13,019,055 unit shares of 347 companies were traded through 95,800 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 5.774 billion was recorded on Tuesday. On Monday, a turnover of Rs 5.434 billion had been recorded.
The share prices of 48 companies increased in the share market today. While the share prices of 215 companies declined, six companies saw their share prices remain stable. Out of the 13 sectors traded on NEPSE today, all groups ended in the red except for the Hotel and Tourism group index, which rose by 1.16 percent. The hotel and tourism group index had also increased by 1.01 percent yesterday (Monday).
Specifically, on Tuesday, the Commercial Bank group index fell by 0.45 percent, the Development Bank remained at 0.00 percent, and Finance dropped by 1.09 percent. While the Hotel and Tourism group index rose by 1.16 percent, the Hydropower index fell by 1.23 percent, the Investment group by 0.60 percent, and Life Insurance by 0.23 percent.
Furthermore, the sub-indices for Manufacturing and Processing fell by 0.53 percent, Microfinance by 0.49 percent, Mutual Funds by 0.45 percent, Non-Life Insurance by 0.86 percent, Others by 1.27 percent, and the Trading group by 0.96 percent.
On Tuesday, the share prices of Suryakunda Hydro Electric Company and Palpa Cement Industries hit the positive circuit on NEPSE. This means investors in Suryakunda and Palpa Cement earned 15 percent on their share prices. Conversely, the share price of Dolti Power Company fell by 8.71 percent.
In terms of turnover amount, Solu Hydropower remained at the forefront. Today, a turnover of Rs 370.7 million was recorded for Solu Hydropower.
Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company was the leader today. At least 777,373 unit shares of National Hydropower were bought and sold on Tuesday. On Monday, at least 938,127 units of National had been traded. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 298 per unit.
