KATHMANDU: Dr. Dilip Sharma, Director of Bir Hospital, has submitted his resignation. He handed it over to the Health Minister on Tuesday.

Dr. Sharma stated that although the recently issued ordinance on removal of public officials could not have directly removed him from his position, he chose to resign on moral grounds. He said the decision was made to facilitate the government’s work and to pave the way for new management.

A 10th-level official under the Health Service, Dr. Sharma had been appointed as Director of Bir Hospital on March 11, 2025.
