CHITWAN: Chitwan Medical College (CMC) is set to expand its healthcare services by establishing ultra-specialized hospitals in Tinkune, Kathmandu, and Hetauda, aiming to bring world-class treatment facilities within Nepal.

In Kathmandu, construction of a state-of-the-art hospital building is in its final phase. According to CMC Chairman and Managing Director Prof. Dr. Harish Chandra Neupane, the hospital under the name CMC Kathmandu will begin operations from Ghatasthapana of the upcoming Dashain festival.

Built on 17 ropani of land with an investment exceeding Rs 12 billion, the hospital will initially be managed by India’s Medanta Hospital.

The 300-bed facility will focus primarily on cancer treatment while also offering a wide range of specialized medical services.

Dr. Neupane stated that the hospital aims to provide treatment comparable to leading global hospitals, reducing the need for Nepali patients to travel abroad for medical care.

Experienced specialist doctors will be involved in service delivery. He added that patients currently going to India and other countries for treatment will be able to access similar quality care within Nepal.

Meanwhile, CMC has also begun construction of another ultra-specialized hospital in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–4, located along the highway on 19 kattha of land.

Chairman and Managing Director Pratap Devkota said the 100-bed hospital is expected to start services by upcoming Dashain, with an estimated investment of around Rs 2.5 billion.

The Hetauda facility will be developed with local partnership and is expected to significantly benefit residents of Makwanpur and surrounding districts, who currently travel to Bharatpur, Kathmandu, or India for specialized treatment.

Established 20 years ago in Bharatpur-10, CMC currently operates a 700-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Tribhuvan University’s medical programs and is one of the busiest medical institutions in Nepal.
