NEPSE closes with single-digit gain, trade volume reaches Rs 2.931 billion

KATHMANDU: On the fourth trading day of the week, today, Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased by a single digit.

On this day, NEPSE rose by 6.94 points. Increasing by 0.25 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE settled at the 2718.16 point mark. On this day, the sensitive index also rose by 0.95 points to stop at the 464.08 point mark. On a percentage basis, this is 0.20 percent higher compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index increased by 0.16 percent and the sensitive float index increased by 0.22 percent.

In the stock market on Thursday, at least 6,684,007 unit shares were bought and sold through 45,065 transactions of 334 companies. According to this, a turnover of Rs 2.931 billion took place on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a turnover of Rs 3.197 billion had occurred. On Tuesday, a turnover of Rs 3.439 billion occurred, while on Monday, NEPSE remained closed due to a public holiday.

Share prices of 155 companies increased in the stock market today. While the share prices of 102 companies declined, the share prices of 12 companies remained stable. Out of 13 groups traded on NEPSE today, the sub-indices of eight groups increased while the sub-indices of the remaining five groups decreased.

According to this, on Thursday, the index of the Commercial Bank group increased by 0.33 percent and the index of the Development Bank group increased by 0.29 percent.

While the sub-index of the Finance group decreased by 0.08 percent, the sub-index of the Hotel and Tourism group increased by 0.20 percent and the sub-index of the Hydropower group increased by 0.00 percent. Similarly, the sub-index of the Investment group decreased by 0.07 percent while Life Insurance increased by 0.30 percent.

Likewise, while the sub-index of the Manufacturing and Processing group decreased by 0.08 percent, Microfinance increased by 0.35 percent. Mutual funds decreased by 0.16 percent and non-life insurance decreased by 0.56 percent. The sub-index of the Others group increased by 0.83 percent and the sub-index of the Trading group increased by 1.57 percent.

On NEPSE this Thursday, investors of Swarojgar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha earned 12.19 percent. Similarly, investors of Forward Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha lost 13.24 percent in share price.

In terms of transaction amount, NRN Infrastructure and Development remained in the top position. A turnover of Rs 176.8 million of NRN occurred on Thursday.

Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company remained ahead again today. On Tuesday, at least 404,133 unit shares of this company were bought and sold, while on Wednesday, at least 513,163 units were traded. Today, on Thursday, at least 526,682 unit shares of National were bought and sold. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 273 per unit share.
