KATHMANDU: The Annual Report of the Auditor General for the fiscal year 2024/25 was submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel on Friday.

Auditor General Toyam Raya presented the report during a programme held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.

On the occasion, President Paudel expressed concern over the growing volume of government irregularities, saying it reflects a decline in accountability, transparency, and financial discipline in public institutions.

He stressed that public officials must be more responsible in settling irregular expenditures and strengthening financial discipline.

The President said curbing irregular government spending would help achieve the aspirations of peace, good governance, development, and prosperity of the younger generation.

He added that the issues raised in the report should increase accountability among concerned agencies and stakeholders.

President Paudel further noted that the Office of the Auditor General plays a crucial role in maintaining financial discipline, accountability, and transparency by reducing irregular government expenditure.
