DHAKA: The Embassy of Nepal in Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Nepal–Bangladesh Friendship Society, organized “Nepal Festival–2026” at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.

The festival aimed to promote Nepal’s diverse cultural and culinary traditions. The event featured a food festival along with various cultural performances showcasing Nepal’s heritage.

Speaking at the event, Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari said the festival was intended to highlight the diversity and richness of Nepal’s culture and cuisine, while also celebrating the similarities in music, arts, and culinary traditions shared between Nepal and Bangladesh.

He added that such shared cultural heritage continues to strengthen multifaceted relations and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Chief guest Bangladesh’s Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury praised the festival, saying it would play an important role in bringing the peoples of Nepal and Bangladesh closer.

He noted that cultural and people-to-people exchanges could further strengthen friendly relations and help identify new areas of cooperation.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General SK Rezauddin Ahmed, Pokhara Pragya Pratisthan Chancellor Padmaraj Dhakal, and Nepal–Bangladesh Friendship Society President Moshiur Ahmed also addressed the program.

Artists from Pokhara Pragya Pratisthan, the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, and Nepali students studying in Bangladesh presented various cultural performances.

The event featured traditional Nepali dances and music including Sorathi, Sankhya, Lathi, Salaijo–Jhyaure, and Kaura, alongside Bangladeshi folk dances and musical presentations, including Nepali ghazals.

The festival saw participation from government and non-government representatives, cultural and culinary enthusiasts, Nepali well-wishers, journalists, and members of the Nepali community in Bangladesh.
