KATHMANDU: Sarita Kumari Thakur, appointed as a Provincial Assembly member from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has taken the oath of office and secrecy.
Speaker Ram Ashish Yadav administered the oath to her.
Previously, RPP Provincial Assembly member Kanchan Bichha had joined the government led by the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML) as a minister. Although the party had asked her to resign from the ministerial post, she refused to comply, leading the party to take disciplinary action against her.
Following the action, RPP removed Bichha from the Provincial Assembly and appointed Thakur in her place.
According to the Election Commission Nepal decision made on May 13, Thakur was officially appointed as a Provincial Assembly member.
